It takes a village to raise a child  and that village for me is Delhi Public School, Sharjah. A child’s well-being is like a beautiful garden – it blossoms with love, care, patience, and encouragement. As a mother, I believe that raising a happy child is not only about ensuring good grades or achievements, but about nurturing a kind heart, a confident mind, and a joyful spirit.

My son Virat joined D.P.S Sharjah when we shifted last year from Dubai to Sharjah. It was a period of turmoil in  our family and it affected Virat, he had major anger issues. We were getting complaint of unruly behaviour and hitting other kids. This would bring me in tears although I knew it was just his way of expressing  the tension he felt at home. I could not make him understand what he was doing was unjustified.

One day the school authorities called and told Virat has again hit some kid but upon asking he just burst out in tears as his dad was unwell and it had taken a toll on him. That was the day and today with the help of nurturing school environment and extensive support of teachers which encouraged a positive change in him. It’s heartwarming to see now Virat participating in academics, sports, arts, and cultural activities which is helping him discover his unique talent and personality.

Every child deserves a safe environment where they feel heard, valued, and supported. At home, we try to create moments that strengthen emotional bonding but at school listening carefully to their little thoughts and big dreams make the strongest foundation for a child’s emotional well-being. I am thankful from heart for the support my child received.

In today’s fast-moving world, children face many pressures at an early age. Therefore, it becomes even more important for us to teach balance – balance between studies and play, technology and family time, discipline and freedom. A healthy routine, nutritious food, physical activities, and proper rest all contribute greatly to a child’s physical and mental growth.

For me, true well-being means seeing my child happy, emotionally secure, curious to learn, respectful towards others, and confident enough to face challenges with courage. Childhood is a precious journey, and every child deserves to grow in an environment filled with love, encouragement, and positivity.

After all, the greatest gift we can give our children is not perfection — but a childhood filled with warmth, understanding, and happiness.
