“They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you… You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts”-APJ Abdul Kalam

Each Child has a mind of their own and as parents our job is to nurture their talents and provide them with as many opportunities as we can. And I can’t thank DPS enough for that. Seeing my daughters from being shy and observative five years ago to becoming the bold, outspoken and curious versions of themselves even up to winning the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Award for Academic excellence. It Truly has been a long journey.

Perhaps the most drastic shift we’ve witnessed is that they no longer look to us for a ‘green light’ before stepping forward. Their confidence is built within. It is a profound realization when observing how they work with their teams or solve difficult tasks that the most potent anchors are the ones that lie below the surface. Be it 3D printing, Arduino programming, and RDWorks or engaging in debate at MUNs or researching sustainable energy systems by using Artificial Intelligence, DPS has been an essential factor As parents, we remain ‘all ears,’ eager to support them as they brainstorm their next project or prepares for their next competition, marvelling at the problem solvers and innovators their becoming.

We believe in providing them with both “roots and wings.” While their roots are firmly planted in values and observation, their wings are forged through diverse experiences in life. They don’t win every competition, but we view those moments not as defeats, but as the “fire” that tempers their spirit. Just like with the Wings of Fire, their path lies within the strength acquired through perseverance. Every defeat teaches them to fly higher, showing that they have succeeded because they became an unstoppable force of nature.

We used to wonder if we should help them ‘break out of their shell.’ We realize now that the shell wasn’t a cage .it was a cocoon. They were evolving. Our job wasn’t to crack the shell open, but to make sure the environment outside was worth flying into.
