Much like Neil Armstrong being the first person to land on the moon, we know we are not the only parents on this incredible parental adventure -but every journey feels uniquely our own. From the moment the pregnancy test revealed those two pink lines, our thoughts and imagination raced far ahead of time. Fear, excitement, and countless emotions clouded our minds all at once.
Now, after more than 120 months of parenting, we find ourselves counting not just the years but the countless adventures we’ve lived through-and those still waiting for us. From our son Gautam’s very first day in kindergarten to the fact that he is now just days away from entering the secondary section, time has flown in the blink of an eye.
We still smile at (and get goosebumps from) the note on our fridge that read: “Don’t worry about me. I am making new friends and learning to play. So wipe your tears, and I will see you real soon.” It takes us straight back to that first day of school, when being away from him for just four hours felt monumental.
Today, at 11, hearing his thoughts and values reassures us that choosing the right school was one of our best decisions. That confidence grew even stronger when his teacher spoke about his empathy-and especially when he was chosen as Vice Head Boy, a truly proud moment for us.
Parenting isn’t as easy as finding answers on ChatGPT or Google. Guiding a child with the right values takes consistent effort from parents and teachers alike, and we’re grateful to see that reflected in our child.
Parenthood has changed us-teaching us teamwork, empathy, and the depth of protective love. We’re still learning, still stumbling, but always showing up.
To sum it all, Parenting may not look like rocket science-but trust us, it’s tougher!
We remain thankful to the Almighty for this journey and deeply appreciative of Delhi Private School Sharjah and its teachers for shaping young minds.
